En el año 1967 año estalló una importante huelga en Rhodiaceta, una fábrica textil propiedad de la compañía Rhone-Poulenc en la ciudad de Besançon, Francia. La huelga fue inusual en las formas, porque los trabajadores se negaron a disociar el conflicto laboral a partir de una agenda social y cultural. Las demandas de los trabajadores en cuestión no era sólo cuestión de salarios y seguridad laboral, sino también del estilo de vida que les impone la sociedad. Chris Marker, junto con otros técnicos y miembros de SLON, visitó Besançon para documentar la huelga, las vidas y las actitudes de los trabajadores. Los huelguistas finalmente regresaron a trabajar con pocas ganancias, pero se habían dado cuenta su verdadero poder, lo que ayudó a sentar las bases de Mayo del 68, cuando Francia se vió sacudida por las protestas revolucionarias.
